My New Law

If I could add one new law it would be that not one person is able to discriminate against others by race. Now a days, many people of the african- american race use excuses from our history to cover up their mistakes. Recently, a student at my school was wearing a hat in the school (against school rules) an a teacher asked him to take his hat off. The student responded by saying, "Is it just because I'm black???"
The obvious reason the teacher asked him to remove his hat was because it's against school policy, but the student made up an excuse to cover up his mistake.
Many african- americans say that the "whites" owned them as slaves many years ago, so they are able to use it as an excuse. These people are highly uneducated though. If they would think about it, they themselves were not slaves. The people they are insulting or showing rudeness towards were not slave owners. You can't give consequences to people based on others actions.

What I Wish to Still Believe In

If I could still believe in something from my childhood, I would still believe in Frosty the Snowman. When I was younger, I would build a snowman and hope that he would come alive, just like Frosty did. I wanted a snowman to be my best friend.
Another thing I wish I could still believe in is Santa and his sleigh pulled by reindeer. By watching the Polar Express, it made me believe there really was a Santa. Then, we would go to the zoo and see reindeer. I would ask my mommy, "Don't reindeer live in the north pole?" She would always respond by saying, "Those are only the magical ones."
Although I may not believe in the those things now, I still love to remember the times where there was such a thing as magic.

Appearance = Personality?

I have seen many people who are big on the outside, but on the inside, they act small. They are cold hearted, or not all what they say they are. Although I have seen many people that are that way, but I have seen even more that are small on the outside, but have a huge heart. Some of the most humble people are the smallest. I believe some people's appearances relate to their personality. Every morning you make the choice of what you wear and how your going to act that day. Some people choose to dress how they feel, but some choose to dress how they wish they acted.
I believe that some of the "prettiest" people are the most ugly on the inside. If your appearance related to your personality or intentions, then the most humble people would be viewed as the most beautiful.

Saver vs. Spender

I would consider myself a spender. I am always going shopping for new clothes or presents for others. One of my favorite things to do is Christmas shopping for my little cousins. Buying for younger children is always fun! I think I get caught up in the Christmas shopping, like many others do. I believe our generation is definitely having a hard time with saving their money. With all of the new technology coming out, teenagers are continuously spending money on iPods, cell phones, or laptops. I think once we are older and don't have the support of our parents many people of our generation will go into debt. If people can't keep their spending in check, then they won't be able to survive because they won't have money for food and water. Money is becoming a very serious issue and I believe everyone needs to cut back, so they can eventually get out of debt.

My Tribe

I belong to several diverse tribes. I am an American teenage girl...
I am in included in the tribe of soccer players, math nerds, band geeks, country music lovers, Christians, narcissism (Megan told me to put that), and believers of doing your best no matter the circumstances.

Extrovert vs. Introvert

I consider myself to be an extrovert. I don't think that either group has it easier because with introverts deal with being lonely sometimes, but extroverts deal with the drama of the social life. If everyone was an extrovert, I think it would be chaos. If everyone was social, then who could you tell secrets to? Nobody, because the secret would probably be about one of their friends. There would also be more drama. I think that this world does NOT need anymore drama. If everyone was an introvert, I think the world would become less interesting. If people aren't willing to speak to many others, then many cultures wouldn't be shared. I have an equal amount of introverts and extroverts as my friends, but I think I favor the introverts. They usually are more trustworthy with things I tell them. I believe extroverts are better leaders because they aren't afraid to step up and take control. They will use their voice to guide people. I think as writers, they are equal. Es neighbors, extroverts would be better because they are willing to talk to you. I think introverts are better teachers. They view their students as people they are able to talk to and teach, but they also seem to care more about their students. I think introversion and extroversion does matter because without a variety this world would go to extremes. Either completely chaos, or completely enclosed. I believe it's good to have an equal mix.

The Road Not Taken

The road I'm on is a successful road leading me to a life of success. It is filled with family and friends, and many accomplishments. These are the things that keep me heading forward on this journey. I am walking a fairly smooth and lined route. I know where my limits lie and how to make it past those limits.
At the end of my path, there is a home with a family in it waiting for me to arrive. This is my destination. My outcome is going to be living a happy life with a wonderful family who I will love forever. There is only one way for me to reach this destination. It is by striving to be my best and making my decisions to the best of my ability for what will benefit my life and the lives around me the most.

Thought of the Day (life law eight)

"To hold onto previous hurts poisons all potential relationships."
To me this means that if you aren't willing to let something go, then it's going to affect any relationship you may have now. People hold many grudges. This causes them to become bitter. If you are bitter towards one person, it's going to change the way people see you. People are going to look at you like a bitter person. People will view you the way you want them to. If you hold a grudge, it's going reflect in the way you treat everyone, not just the person you're against. In the end, forgive and don't hold grudges. It'll make all your relationships better and change your attitude towards everything.

Thought of the Day (life law six)

"You are the only person who can change your perception of yourself and your life."
This is definitely a thought for all of us to ponder on. Our perception of our life can be changed by our choices. If we want our lives to be successful, then make choices that will get you a step closer to being successful. If you want your life to suck, then make poor decisions and hang with the wrong people. You choose how you view your life. One quote that is relevant to this topic is "Your friends are the ones who influence you the most."
This means your friends will influence your life and your perspective of it. So choose the right friends, and your life will go the way you wish for it to be.

Thought For The Day (Life Law 5)

"If you do nothing, you will have nothing"
This is a very good quote for this chapter of the book because it is straight forward and there is no reason to not understand it. Basically, if you decide to be a bum, then your going to have a bummish result. It' like a quote I have recently heard... "It is insane to do the same thing over and over again, and expect different results."
You can't sit around and do nothing and expect to be successful. It's just not gonna happen. If you are doing the work, your gonna get successful results.

To A Stranger

One of my favorite poems by Walt Whitman...

PASSING stranger! you do not know how longingly I look upon you,

You must be he I was seeking, or she I was seeking, (it comes to me as of a dream,)

I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,

All is recall'd as we flit by each other, fluid, affectionate, chaste, matured,

You grew up with me, were a boy with me or a girl with me,

I ate with you and slept with you, your body has become not yours only nor left my body mine only,

You give me the pleasure of your eyes, face, flesh, as we pass, you take of my beard, breast, hands, in return,

I am not to speak to you, I am to think of you when I sit alone or wake at night alone,

I am to wait, I do not doubt I am to meet you again,

I am to see to it that I do not lose you.

I like this poem because its a love poem that describes love at first sight. The writer knows that this might be his only chance to talk to that person, and he dreams about and what it would be like to be with her.

Walt Whitman

Walt Whitman was a famous poet.
He wrote poetry.
He was a romanticist because he emphasized on nature, and he went into depth with his thoughts. A realist would've wrote more simple.
My favorite poem by him is...

Whoever You Are, Holding me Now in Hand
Whoever you are, holding me now in hand,
Without one thing, all will be useless,
I give you fair warning, before you attempt me further,
I am not what you supposed, but far different.

Who is he that would become my follower?
Who would sign himself a candidate for my affections?

The way is suspicious—the result uncertain, perhaps
     destructive;
You would have to give up all else—I alone would expect
     to be your God, sole and exclusive,
Your novitiate would even then be long and exhausting,
The whole past theory of your life, and all conformity to the
     lives around you, would have to be abandon'd;
Therefore release me now, before troubling yourself any further—
     Let go your hand from my shoulders,
Put me down, and depart on your way.

Or else, by stealth, in some wood, for trial,
Or back of a rock, in the open air,
(For in any roof'd room of a house I emerge not—nor
     in company,
And in libraries I lie as one dumb, a gawk, or unborn, or
     dead,)
But just possibly with you on a high hill—first watching
     lest any person, for miles around, approach unawares,
Or possibly with you sailing at sea, or on the beach of the sea,
     or some quiet island,
Here to put your lips upon mine I permit you,
With the comrade's long-dwelling kiss, or the new husband's kiss,
For I am the new husband, and I am the comrade.

Or, if you will, thrusting me beneath your clothing,
Where I may feel the throbs of your heart, or rest upon your hip,
Carry me when you go forth over land or sea;
For thus, merely touching you, is enough—is best,
And thus, touching you, would I silently sleep and be carried
     eternally.

But these leaves conning, you con at peril,
For these leaves, and me, you will not understand,
They will elude you at first, and still more afterward—I will
     certainly elude you,
Even while you should think you had unquestionably caught me, behold!
Already you see I have escaped from you.

For it is not for what I have put into it that I have written
     this book,
Nor is it by reading it you will acquire it,
Nor do those know me best who admire me, and vauntingly praise me,
Nor will the candidates for my love, (unless at most a very few,)
     prove victorious,
Nor will my poems do good only—they will do just as much evil,
     perhaps more;
For all is useless without that which you may guess at many times
     and not hit—that which I hinted at;
Therefore release me, and depart on your way.

Fat food.. I mean fast food

Meals nowadays are prepared fairly quick. We can go through McDonalds and get a hamburger or some chicken nuggets in less than five minutes. Yes this way might be convenient for when your in a rush, but  it's also getting people extremely obese. People need to learn how to eat in moderation, and eating a Big Mac isn't going to help that.If you are spending your time going through drive thru's, then how are you spending time with your family and friends? Back when our parents were kids, they always had dinner with their family. They didn't go to McDonalds very often. This is why Americans weren't overweight back then. Now, Fast food has become a part of our everyday life. A statistic says that over 25% of Americans eat fast food a day. Another says that the average American will eat fast food 2-3 times a week. That is about 130 meals a year! I can guarantee that isn't healthy for you. In conclusion, people need to lay off on the McDonald's, and eat a home cooked meal.

Sophomore Year

So far this sophomore year has been pretty great. I have gotten classes with my friends and starting to also talk to new people. Coming into this year, I was kind of nervous because I knew it would be a big academic jump from last year, but surely I am going to complete this year with satisfying results. I think one goal I am setting for this year is to make sure I am studying enough to do well on my tests. I need to make sure I am prepared. I hope the rest of my year is as good as the beginning.
